Tip of the Week
Dead Ball Efficiency
“When the ball is dead, it is vital that the officials remain alive.” A dead ball period will usually result from a foul, violation, held ball or timeout. In these instances, the official will have some communication to make in the form of signals and floor mechanics. The key is to do what has to be done as quickly and as efficiently as possible. The signals should be made crisp and clear to all. When finished, don’t stand around. Get the ball back into play as soon as possible.
