Last Two Weeks – We are heading into the final stages of the regular season for the schools. The regular season will end Friday, February 14th. Each game means more than usual for playoff positioning, region championships, etc. Games may be more intense. Fans may be more involved. Sharpen your focus. Sometimes even teams at the bottom of the region can lash out. The number of ejections for unsporting acts have risen during the last 10 days. Stay alert in your games!
Tip of the Week
Foul Signals and Signaling. Following correct protocols at the spot of the foul is vital to all involved in the game. This includes partner(s), players, coaches and spectators.
There has been an increase in some teams attempting to switch free throw shooters particularly late in the game. Video clips demonstrating this activity have been received. Each time a foul is ruled, the Official’s Manual REQUIRES THE OFFICIAL TO IDENTIFY THE FREE THROWER. If you adhere to this protocol, you will lessen the chances that teams will try this. Regardless, all members of the crew must remain alert to this possibility.
Please be reminded that knowingly attempting a free throw that the player is not entitled to results in a technical foul for unsporting conduct (10-4-6f) being charged to that player.
Great info to be reminded of! Thanks as always!
