Running Clocks

The use of a running clock in lopsided games is an option that may be utilized at times.  In South Carolina HSL games, the NFHS rule (5-5-3) is used.  This means that both head coaches must agree to the use of a running clock along with the referee.  There is no automatic imposition of a running clock.  In some states including North Carolina, a running clock is used when a certain difference ninth score is reached.  This is not true in South Carolina HSL games.

Arrival

I have received a number of complaints about officials arriving at a venue as the horn is going off to start the first game or later. Please make every effort to arrive on time.

For middle school and sub-varsity contests, officials should arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled starting time. Now, we all understand that sometimes work, traffic or other obligations prevent this. Regardless, if you are going to arrive closer than 15 minutes before the start of any contest, notify your partner of this fact.

Please be reminded that the parking situation at the Sports Center has changed.  Wherever you park now will cause you to take longer to get into the Sports Center.  Please make allowances for this.
