Mic’d Up
We have gotten several reports of players being mic’d up during a game. This is NOT permitted. As noted in the Comments on The 2024-25 Rules Changes, the use of technology for voice and video recording by players, coaches or other bench personnel during a contest is prohibited.
Disqualification Procedures
There is a specific protocol to be followed when a player is disqualified. First, the official must notify the head coach that the player is disqualified. Once this is done, the player becomes bench personnel. Let’s be reminded that failure to notify the coach means the player is not disqualified regardless of how many fouls the player has accumulated.
After notifying the coach, the official should indicate to the clock operator to start the 15-second replacement interval for the disqualified individual. Then the official should notify the player in question.
A horn should sound at the end of the 15-second replacement interval of time. Failing to have a substitute at the table at this point in time results in a technical foul charged to the head coach (Rule 10-6-2).
