Some notes from recent observations.
Foul Reporting Procedure
Please go to the reporting area for all foul reports. Please hustle to the reporting area. Do not walk.
Do not get too close to the table. Most schools have a volleyball court laid out on the basketball court. Do not go closer than the edge of the volleyball court.
Stop, establish eye contact with the scorer prior to beginning the report.
After the report while proceeding from the reporting area, the reporting official shall make eye contact with the administrating official and indicate the number of free throws awarded or indicate the throw-in spot.
A couple of reminders.
These kinds of fouls have different resumption of play parameters. Here is where we can act like football referees. Get together. BRIEFLY discuss what is going to happen and who is going to be in what position. Is it POI? Where was the ball when the ruling was made and who had control? Free throws? Don’t make the mistake of putting the ball in play with a division line throw-in when it should be at the spot nearest to where the foul occurred or where the ball was located.
