Observers as well as a significant number of officials have reported about continuing issues with compliance with rules governing the proper wearing of the uniforms, particularly the rolling out of the waistbands of the uniform shorts. Overall the enforcement for 10-7-12 (hand checking) has been pretty good. The one area which has been a little weak is ruling a foul when contact on a ball handler occurs due to an extended arm bar. Remember that such contact is a foul regardless of whether or not it affects the ball handler’s ability to play.
Some things to pay attention to as the season gets underway. Please make sure all players are properly uniformed. The open book, NFHS certification exam is available online. Requirements The exam must be completed by 11/9/17. A passing grade of 70 is required in order to be certified to do varsity games.
